October 11, 2014 Game 2: Devils Beat Panthers: 5-1
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 5-1 victory over the Panthers
in Florida on Saturday, October 11, 2014.
Eric Gelinas beat Roberto Luongo at 2:37 of the first period to
give the Devils an early 1-0 lead. Gelinas' first goal of the season
was assisted by Jon Merrill and Jordin Tootoo.
Martin Havlat scored his first goal as a New Jersey Devil on a
power-play at 8:46. Eric Gelinas and Patrik Elias assisted on the goal
that gave the Devils a 2-0 lead.
A power-play goal from Marek Zidlicky at 13:13 made it 3-0 New
Jersey. Damon Severson and Travis Zajac assisted on Zidlicky's first
goal of the season.
Damon Severson scored his first career NHL goal at 19:32 of the
first period to give the Devils a commanding 4-0 lead. The goal was
scored unassisted.
Ryan Clowe made it 5-0 at 2:59 of the second period, which
forced Roberto Luongo from the Panther's net. Michael Ryder and Adam
Henrique assisted on Clowe's first goal of the season.
Derek MacKenzie beat Cory Schneider at 16:31 of the second
