April 15, 2012 R1 Game 2: Panthers Even Series, Win 4-2
The New Jersey Devils lost game 2 of their Stanley Cup
Quarterfinals matchup 2-4 to the Panthers in Florida on Sunday, April 15,
2012. The series is now tied, 1-1.
Stephen Weiss beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play just 23 seconds
into the first period to give the Panthers an early lead.
Stephen Weiss made it 2-0 with a 5 on 3 power-play goal 1:12 into
the second period. Marcel Goc made it 3-0 with a goal at 14:39.
Travis Zajac got the Devils on the board just 48 seconds into the
third period. The goal was assisted by Andy Greene and Alexei
Ponikarovsky.
Ilya Kovalchuk scored his first goal of the playoffs just 1:14
after Zajac's goal to make it a one goal game. Adam Henrique was
credited with the only assist on the goal.
Tomas Fleischmann added an empty net goal with less than a second
remaining in regulation time.
