April 19, 2012 R1 Game 4: Brodeur & Devils Shutout Cats 4-0
The New Jersey Devils evened their Stanley Cup Playoffs
Quarterfinals series against the Florida Panthers, 2-2 with a 4-0 shutout
at the Prudential Center on Thursday, April 19, 2012..
The shutout was the NHL record-setting 24th career playoff
shutout for Martin Brodeur.
Zach Parise got the Devils on the board with a power-play goal
that beat Scott Clemmensen at 6:08 of the second period. Parise's
second goal of the playoffs was assisted by Travis Zajac and Marek
Zidlicky.
Steve Bernier made it a 2-0 Devils lead with a goal at 2:02 of
the third perod. Stephen Gionta and Martin Brodeur assisted on Bernier's
first goal of the playoffs.
Travis Zajac increased the lead to the 3-0 at 3:35. David
Clarkson and Bryce Salvador assisted on Zajac's second of the playoffs.
A power-play goal from Ilya Kovalchuk at 8:32 made it 4-0.
Peter Harrold and Bryce Salvador assisted on Kovalchuk's second goal of the
playoffs.
