February 16, 2011 Game 57: Devils Hang on to Defeat Hurricanes 3-2
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-2 victory over the Carolina
Hurricanes at the Prudential Center on Wednesday, February 16, 2011.
Ilya Kovalchuk beat Cam Ward at 5:41 of the second period to
break the scoreless tie. Nick Palmieri and Travis Zajac assisted on
Kovalchuk's team-leading 20th goal of the season.
Just 34 seconds into the third period, Brian Rolston scored to
make it 2-0. Rolston's ninth goal of the season was assisted by Patrik
Elia and Anssi Salmela.
Patrik Elias scored just 1:25 later to make it a three goal New
Jersey lead. Brian Rolston and Mark Fayne assisted on Elias' 14th goal
of the season.
Johan Hedberg and the Devils allowed two goals (Sergei Samsonov
at 8:17 and Tuomo Ruutu at 19:55), but held on to win 3-2.
