October 15, 2010 Game 5: Avs Beat Devs 3-2
The New Jersey Devils lost 2-3 at home to the Colorado
Avalanche on Friday, October 15, 2010.
Cody McLeod beat Martin Brodeur at 11:50 of the first period to
give the Avalanche a 1-0 lead. The first period ended with Colorado
leading 1-0, even though the Devils outshot them 17-3 in the first 20 minutes
of play.
TJ Galiardi increased the Avs lead to 2-0 with a goal at 11:48 of
the second period.
Matt Taormina scored three minutes later on a power-play to get
the Devils on the board. Taormina's first career NHL goal was assisted
by Ilya Kovalchuk and Patrik Elias.
The second period ended with the Avs leading 2-1. Colorado
outshot New Jersey 12-10 in the period.
Chris Stewart scored at 4:31 of the third period to give Colorado
a 3-1 lead.
nbsp; Ilya Kovalchuk beat Craig Anderson at 8:49 to get the Devils back
within one goal. Kovalchuk's second goal of the season was assisted by
Matt Taormina and Matt Corrente.
