The New Jersey Devils skated to a 4-2 victory in Montreal over
the Canadiens on Saturday, March 27, 2010.
Patrik Elias put the Devils up 1-0 with a goal that beat Jaroslav
Halak on a power-play at 8:11 of the first period. Zach Parise and
Travis Zajac assisted on Elias' 15th goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Canadiens 14-13 in the first period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 1-0.
Jamie Langenbrunner scored a power-play goal at 1:59 of the
second period to make it a 2-0 Devils lead. Ilya Kovalchuk and Andy
Greene assisted on Langenbrunner's 18th goal of the season.
Andrei Kostitsyn beat Martin Brodeur at 5:15 to get Montreal on
Dainius Zubrus tipped a shot from Paul Martin past Halak to make
it a 3-1 Devils lead. Vladimir Zharkov also assisted on Zubrus' eighth
goal of the season.
Tomas Plekanec got Montreal back within a single goal when he
scored at 16:49.
The second period ended with the Devils leading 3-2. The Devils
outshot the Habs 7-6 in the period.
Brian Rolston earned his 700th career point with an empty net
goal with 10 seconds remaining in the game. Ilya Kovalchuk assisted on
