November 28, 2009 Game 24: Devils Smash Islanders 6-1
The New Jersey Devils crushed the New York Islanders 6-1 at the
Prudential Center on Saturday, November 28, 2009.
Richard Park beat Martin Brodeur at 11:18 of the first period to
give the Islanders a 1-0 lead.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 10-7 in the first period, which
ended with New York leading 1-0.
Mike Mottau tied the game just 54 seconds into the second period
with a goal that beat Martin Biron. Patrik Elias was credited with the
only assist on Mottau's first goal of the season.
Brian Rolston added a power-play goal at 12:06 to give the Devils
a 2-1 lead. Patrik Elias and Jamie Langenbrunner assisted on Rolston's
seventh goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 16-12 in the second period,
which ended with the Devils leading 2-1.
Patrik Elias beat Biron at 10:30 of the third period on a
power-play to give New Jersey a 3-1 lead. Elias' second goal of the
season was assisted by Brian Rolston and Travis Zajac.
Zach Parise scored his 15th goal of the season at 11:54 to
increase the Devils lead to three goals. Andy Greene and Jamie
Langenbrunner assisted on the goal.
Brian Rolston scored for the second time in the game at 12:32 to
make it a 5-1 Devils lead. Mike Mottau and Niclas Bergfors assisted on
the goal.
Patrik Elias also scored for the second time in the game at 19:15
to make it a 6-1 Devils victory. Brian Rolston was credited with the
only assist on the goal.
