March 28, 2009 Game 75: Hurricanes End Devils Home Winning Streak
The New Jersey Devils lost 1-2 at home to the Carolina Hurricanes
on Saturday, March 28, 2009.
Patrik Elias beat Cam Ward at 18:09 of the first period to give
the Devils a 1-0 lead. Brian Gionta and Bryce Salvador assisted on
Elias' 31st goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Hurricanes 13-12 in the first period,
which ended with the Devils leading, 1-0.
The Hurricanes outshot the Devils 18-13 in the second period,
though neither team was able to put the puck past the opposition's
netminder.

Sergei Samsonov tied the game with a goal that beat Martin
Brodeur at 13:05. Tuomo Ruutu added a power-play goal at 16:26 to give
the Hurricanes their first lead of the game.
