January 19, 2009 Game 46: Devils Beat Predators 3-1
The New Jersey Devils beat the Predators 3-1 in Nashville on
Monday, January 19, 2009.
Neither team scored in the first period, in which the Predators
outshot the Devils 14-8.
In his first game back in a Devils sweater, Brendan Shannahan
beat Pekka Rinne at 1:38 of the second period on a power-play.
Shannahan's first goal of the season was assisted by Brian Rolston and Jamie
Langenbrunner.
David Clarkson beat Rinne just 1:43 later to make it a 2-0 Devils
lead. Brian Rolston and John Madden assisted on Clarkson's 10th goal of
the season.
The Devils outshot the Predators 15-8 in the second period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 2-0.
Nashville got on the board on a power-play at 14:12 of the third
period when Radek Bonk put the puck past Scott Clemmensen.
Zach Parise added an empty net goal at 19:46 to make it a 3-1
Devils victory. Parise's 27th of the season was assisted by Patrik Elias
and John Madden.
Jay Pandolfo was scratched from the lineup to make room for
Brendan Shanahan.
