The New Jersey Devils lost 3-6 at home to the Philadelphia Flyers
on Friday, October 24, 2008.
Travis Zajac got the Devils on the board early, with a goal that
beat Martin Biron just 47 seconds into the game. Zach Parise was
credited with the only assist on Zajac's first goal of the season.
Jeff Carter tied the game with a goal just 1:03 later.
Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond took a 5 minute boarding major
penalty at 9:01. Mike Knuble capitalized with a power-play goal that
beat Martin Brodeur at 11:25 to give the Flyers a 2-1 lead.
Dainius Zubrus tied the game with a power-play goal at 15:09.
Zach Parise and Patrik Elias assisted on Zubrus' first goal of the
The Devils took a 3-2 lead late in the first period when Zach
Parise put the puck past Biron with just 19 seconds remaining. Brian
Gionta and Travis Zajac assisted on Parise's fifth goal of the season.
The Flyers outshot the Devils 11-9 in the first period, but
trailed 2-3 in goals.
Simon Gagne scored a power-play goal at 11:57 of the second
period to tie the game, 3-3. Scott Hartnell added a goal at 16:55 to give
the Flyers a 4-3 lead.
The Flyers outshot the Devils 8-3 in the second period, which
ended with the Devils trailing 3-4.
Joffrey Lupul scored at 11:22 of the third period to increase the
Flyers lead to two goals. Scott Hartnell added an empty net goal at
18:04 to seal the win for Philadelphia.
