April 13, 2008R1 G3: Devils BEAT Rangers: 4-3 OVERTIME - It's a Series!
The New Jersey Devils defeated the New York Rangers 4-3 in
overtime at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, April 13, 2008. The win
cuts the Rangers series lead to 2-1.
Sergei Brylin gave the Devils an early 1-0 lead with a goal that
beat Henrik Lunqvist at 3:01 of the first period. Brylin's first goal of
the first period was assisted by Arron Asham and Mike Rupp.
Brandon Dubinsky tied the game with a goal that beat Martin
Brodeur at 12:17.
The Rangers outshot the Devils 12-10 in the first period, which
ended with the game tied, 1-1.
Sean Avery beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play at 6:50 of the
second period to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead.
Patrik Elias scored an unassisted power-play goal at 12:55 to tie
the game, 2-2.
Zach Paries added another Devils power-play goal at 15:19 to give
the Devils a 3-2 lead. Jamie Langenbrunner and Paul Martin assisted on
Parise's first goal of the playoffs.
The second period ended with the Devils leading 3-2. The
Devils outshot the Rangers 12-5 in the period.
Brandon Dubinsky scored his second goal of the game on a
power-play just 55 seconds into the third period to knot the teams in a 3-3
Regulation time ended with the teams tied, 3-3. The
Rangers outshot the Devils 12-5 in the third period.
John Madden won the game with an unassisted goal at 6:01 of the
