March 15, 2008 Game 72: Devils Beat Avalanche 4-2
The New Jersey Devils beat the Avalanche in Colorado 4-2 on
Saturday, March 15, 2008.
Dainius Zubrus gave the Devils a 1-0 lead with a goal that beat
Jose Theodore at 14:08 of the first period. Mike Rupp and Vitaly
Vishnevski assisted on Zubrus' 11th goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Avalanche 11-7 in the first period and led
1-0 after the first 20 minutes.
Colorado tied the game when Paul Stastny beat Martin Brodeur at
7:15 of the second period.
Jay Pandolfo re-gained the lead for New Jersey with a goal just
1:47 after Stastny's goal. Brian Gionta and Johnny Oduya assisted on
Pandolfo's 12th goal of the season.
Colorado outshot the Devils 9-7 in the second period, but the
Devils led 2-1 in goals.
Jamie Langenbrunner gave the Devils a 2 goal lead with a goal at
7:52 of the third period. Langenbrunner's 12th goal of the season was
assisted by Zach Parise and Travis Zajac.
The Devils took a 4-1 lead when John Madden beat Theodore at
11:50. Brian Gionta and Jay Pandolfo assisted on Madden's 19th goal of
the season.
John-Michael Liles got the Avalanche back within 2 goals with a
power-play goal at 12:27.
