April 28, 2007 R2 Game 2: Devils BEAT Senators: 3-2 2nd Overtime .. Series Tied
The New Jersey Devils beat the Ottawa Senators 3-2 at home in
double overtime for Game 2 of Round 2 of the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs on
Saturday, April 28, 2007. The best-of-seven series is now tied, 1 game
to 1.
Brian Gionta gave the Devils their first lead of the series with
a power-play goal that beat Ray Emery just 1:43 into the first period.
Gionta's seventh goal of the playoffs was assisted by Patrik Elias and Scott
Gomez.
Sergei Brylin scored a 5 on 3 power-play goal with just 0.2
seconds remaining in the first period. Brylin's first goal of the
post-season was scored unassisted.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Senators, 2-0.
The Devils outshot the Senators 16-5 in the period.
Daniel Alfredsson got the Senators on the board with a power-play
goal that beat Martin Brodeur at 4:23 of the second period.
The Senators outshot the Devils 14-4 in the second period, which
ended with the Devils leading 2-1.
Dany Heatly tied the game with just 27 seconds remaining in
regulation time to force overtime.
The Senators outshot the Devils 12-4 in the third period, which
ended with the game tied, 2-2.
Jamie Langenbrunner beat Ray Emery at 1:55 of the second 20
minute overtime period to win the game for the Devils and tie the series.
Travis Zajac assisted on Langenbrunner's second goal of the
post-season.
