February 11, 2007Game 56: Devils Lose 4-1 to Lightning
The New Jersey Devils lost 4-1 at home to the Tampa Bay Lightning
on Sunday, February 11, 2007.
Scott Gomez gave the Devils an early lead with a power-play goal
that beat Johan Holmqvist at 2:12 of the first period. Gomez's 10th goal
of the season was assisted by Patrik Elias and Jamie Langenbrunner.
The Devils outshot the Lightning 9-8 in the first period, which
ended with New Jersey leading, 1-0.
Vaclav Prospal beat Martin Brodeur just 44 seconds into the
second period. Nick Tarnasky scored at 17:24 to give Tampa a 2-1 lead.
Vincent Lecavalier scored just 48 seconds later to give the Lightning a
2 goal lead.
The second period ended with Tampa Bay leadin 3-1. The
Lightning outshot the Devils 10-6 in the period.
Dan Boyle capped the scoring when he added a power-play goal for
Tampa just 56 seconds into the third period.
The game ended with the Lightning winning, 4-1. Tampa Bay
outshot the Devils 9-7 in the third period and 27-22 in the game.
