November 02, 2006 Game 12: Devils Fall To Islanders 2-5
The New Jersey Devils lost 5-2 at home to the New York Islanders
on Thursday, November 2, 2006.
Trent Hunter ruined Martin Brodeur's shutout streak 8:00 into the
first period to give the Islanders a 1-0 lead.
Travis Zajac tied the game with a goal that beat Rick DiPietro at
15:30 of the first period. Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach Parise assisted
on Zajac's third goal of the season.
Miroslav Satan gave New York the lead again with a goal that beat
Brodeur just 32 seconds after Zajac's goal.
The Islanders outshot the Devils 13-6 in the first period, which
ended with New York leading 2-1.
Alexei Zhitnik beat Brodeur at 10:10 of the second period to make
it a 3-1 Islanders lead. Ex-Devil Viktor Kozlov increased the Islanders
lead to three goals at 15:14.
Zach Parise cut the Devils deficit to two goals at 18:46.
Parise's sixth goal of the season was assisted by Jamie Langenbrunner and
Travis Zajac.
The Islanders led the Devils 4-2 at the end of the second
period. The shots were even 5-5 in the period.
Jason Blake beat Brodeur to make it a 5-2 Islanders lead at 4:46
of the third period.
The game ended with the Islanders winning, 5-2. New York
outshot New Jersey 9-4 in the third period and 27-16 in the game.
