February 09, 2006 Game 57: Devils Beat Bruins: 3-2 In Overtime
The New Jersey Devils beat the Bruins, 3-2 in overtime in Boston
on Thursday, February 9, 2006. Brian Gionta won the game at 2:10 of the
overtime period.
Glen Murray beat Martin Brodeur at 11:01 of the first period to
give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.
The first period ended with the Bruins leading the Devils, 1-0.
The Bruins outshot the Devils 13-10 in the period.
Patrik Elias beat Bruins netminder Tim Thomas 5:52 into the
second period to tie the game, 1-1. Elias' seventh goal of the season
was assisted by Scott Gomez.
&nbps; The Devils outshot Boston 15-10 in the second period, which ended
with the game tied, 1-1.
Brian Gionta was credited with a short-handed goal when his shot
was deflected past Thomas by Bruins defenseman Stewart at 7:56 of the third
period. Brian Rafalski assisted on Gionta's 32nd goal of the
season.
Wayne Primeau tied the game by beating Brodeur at 12:13 of the
third period.
The third period ended with the game tied, 2-2, forcing overtime.
Brian Gionta scored his 33rd goal of the season, 2:10 into the overtime
to win the game for the Devils. Sergei Brylin and Tommy Albelin assisted
on the goal.
