January 21, 2006Game 48: Devils Extend Streak, 3-2 Shootout Win Over Islanders
The New Jersey Devils extended their winning streak to 9 straight,
with a 3-2 shootout victory at home over the Islanders on Saturday, January 21,
Sergei Brylin beat Islander netminder Rick DiPietro at 15:24 of
the first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Zach Parise and Grant
Marshall assisted on Brylin's 10th goal of the season.
The Devils outshot the Islanders 15-10 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading, 1-0.
There was no scoring in the second period, though the Islanders
outshot the Devils 16-6.
Patrik Elias scored a power-play goal 6:11 into the third period
to increase the Devils lead. Brian Rafalski and Jamie Langenbrunner
assisted on Elias' fourth goal of the season.
Miroslav Satan beat Martin Brodeur at 10:32 to get the Islanders
on the board. Mark Parrish tied the game with a power-play goal at
Regulation time ended with the game tied, 2-2. There was
