November 03, 2005 Game 13: Rangers Beat Devils: 4-2
The New Jersey Devils were defeated, 4-2 by the New York Rangers
at home on Tuesday, November 3, 2005. The teams will meet again at
Madison Square Garden on Saturday at 1:00PM.
Jamie Langenbrunner scored the first Devils short-handed goal of
the season at 4:06 of the first period. Langenbrunner's third goal of
the season was unassisted.
Michael Nylander tied the game with a power-play goal at
14:05. Jaromir Jagr beat Clemmensen just 47 seconds later to give the
Rangers a 2-1 lead.
Grant Marshall fought Jason Strudwick at 15:54 in an effort to
fire up his team. It was the first fighting major for the Devils this
season.
The first period ended with the Rangers leading the Devils, 2-1.
The Devils outshot the Rangers 14-9 in the period, but were unable to
capitalize on a 1:53 5 on 3 power-play.
Nylander scored his second goal of the game at 9:22 of the second
period to give the Rangers a 2 goal lead.
The second period ended with the Rangers leading the Devils, 3-2.
The Devils outshot the Rangers 11-8 in the period.
Brian Gionta got the Devils back within one goal with a
power-play goal at 9:19 of the third period. Gionta's seventh goal of
the season was assisted by Paul Martin and Vladimir Malakhov.
Jaromir Jagr scored an empty net goal with just 18 seconds
remaining to seal the win for the Rangers.
The game ended with the Rangers winning, 4-2.
