The New Jersey Devils beat the Bruins, 5-4 in Boston on Saturday,
October 29, 2005 in their first shootout. Viktor Kozlov & Brian Gionta
scored shootout goals to win the game.
Jay Pandolfo slapped a nice rebound past Boston netminder, Hannu
Toivonen just 3:01 into the first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.
John Madden was credited with the only assist on Pandolfo's third goal of the
A bad bounce off the boards gave the Bruins an empty net (as
Scott Clemmensen had moved back to play the puck) - P. J. Alexsson smacked the
puck in to tie the game, 1-1.

was taken by Joe Thornton and put passed Clemmensen for another easy Bruins
The first period ended with the Bruins leading the Devils 2-1.
The Devils outshot the Bruins 12-8 in the period.
Glen Murray beat Clemmensen at 7:39 of the second period to
increase the Bruins lead to 2 goals.
Viktor Kozlov beat Toivonen at 17:26 to get the Devils back
within one goal of the Bruins. Kozlov's third goal was assisted by
Alexander Mogilny and Zach Parise.
The second period ended with the Bruins leading the Devils, 3-2.
The Devils outshot the Bruins 14-7 in the period.
Viktor Kozlov scored his second goal of the game by blasting the
puck through Toivonen at 5:55 of the third period to tie the game, 3-3.
Kozlov's goal was assisted by Alexander Mogilny and Sean Brown.
Sergei Samsonov regained the Bruins lead just 1:19 after Kozlov's
Alexander Mogilny blasted the puck through traffic and into the
back of the Bruins net at 17:28 on the power-play to tie the game, 4-4.
Mogilny's fifth goal of the season was assisted by Sean Brown.
Regulation time & overtime ended with the game tied, 4-4.
