February 03, 2004 Devils Are All Stars.. Rafalski In, Niedermayer Captain
Scott Stevens, Scott Niedermayer, and Martin Brodeur were all
voted by the fans to start for the Eastern Conference All-Star Team. The
announcement was made on January 8, 2004.
With Scott Stevens out of the lineup after suffering what may
have been post-concussion symptoms, it was unknown whether or not he would play
in the East vs West matchup. The NHL made it official on Tuesday,
February 3, 2004, that he would not be in the lineup for the All-Star
game.
The NHL also announced that Brian Rafalski will be added to the
All-Star lineup to fill in the missing defenseman position and that Scott
Niedermayer will serve as captain of the Eastern Squad in Stevens'
place.
