October 25, 2003Game 7: Devils Collapse, Lose to Bruins, 5-2
The New Jersey Devils lost at home, 5-2 to the Boston Bruins on
Saturday, October 25, 2003. Known for their defense and ability to hold
onto a lead, the Devils blew a 2-1 lead going into the third period, allowing
4 unanswered goals.
Here are a few of my pictures
from the game.
Patrik Elias gave the Devils an early 1-0 lead by beating Boston
goaltender, Andrew Raycroft at 2:27 of the first period on the power-play.
Scott Gomez and Scott Niedermayer assisted on Elias' second goal of the
Martin Lapointe tied the game at 14:54 of the first, beating
Brodeur on a power-play.
Jamie Langenbrunner regained the Devils one goal lead with just
1:58 remaining in the first period, with a short-handed goal. Scott
Niedermayer assisted on Langenbrunner's third goal of the season.
The first period ended with New Jersey leading Boston, 2-1.
The Devils outshot the Bruins 13-11 in the period.
There was no scoring in the second, the Devils outshot the Bruins
12-5 in the period.
The Devils collapse began just 26 seconds into the third period,
when Patrice Bergeron got the puck past Brodeur. Sergei Samsonov added
another goal at 5:45 to give the Bruins a 3-2 lead. Glen Murray & Joe
Thornton also scored (at 8:15 and 13:33 respectively).
The Devils were outshot 10-8 in the third period, but outshot the
Bruins 33-26 in the game, which ended with a final score of 5-2..
