June 09, 2003Round 4 Game 7: Devils BEAT Ducks: 3-0 WIN Stanley Cup!
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim at
home to WIN THE STANLEY CUP on Monday, June 9, 2003. The shutout was
Brodeur's 3rd of the series - and seventh of the playoffs - a new NHL record!
The Cup is the third for the Devils in nine years!
There was no scoring in the first period, the Devils outshot the
Ducks, 7-5 in the period.
Mike Rupp scored his first career NHL Playoff goal at 2:22 of the
second period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead! Scott Niedermayer and Colin
White assisted on Rupp's goal.
Jeff Friesen blasted the puck through Giguere at 12:18 of the
second period to give the Devils a huge 2-0 lead! Mike Rupp and Scott
Niedermayer assisted on Friesen's ninth goal of the playoffs.
The second period ended with the Devils leading the Ducks, 2-0.
The Devils outshot the Ducks, 12-9 in the period.
Jeff Friesen got his second goal of the game to give the Devils
a 3-0 lead at 16:16 of the third period. Friesen's tenth goal of the
playoffs (fifth of the series) was assisted by Mike Rupp and Scott
The game ended with the Devils winning, 3-0! The Ducks
outshot the Devils 10-6 in the third period, but were outshot 25-24 in the
