November 26, 2003 Game 20: Cup Re-match: Devils & Ducks, 3-3 Tie
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-3 tie, with the Mighty Ducks,
in Anaheim on Wednesday, November 26, 2003.
Brian Rafalski scored on a 4 on 3 power-play to give the Devils a
1-0 lead at 18:43 of the first period. Rafalski's third goal of the
season was assisted by Scott Niedermayer and Sergei Brylin.
Ex-Devil Petr Sykora blasted a shot past Brodeur with just 17.3
seconds remaining in the period to tie the game.
The first period ended with the score tied 1-1, and the shots
even, 12-12.
Sergei Federov quickly shot a rebound past Martin Brodeur at
14:35 of the second period to give Anaheim a 2-1 lead.
The second period ended with the Ducks leading the Devils, 2-1.
The Ducks outshot the Devils, 14-12, in the period.
Patrik Elias recorded his seventh goal of the season at 3:41 of
the third period, slapping the puck past Giguere. Elias' goal was
assisted by Mike Rupp and Paul Martin.
John Madden beat Giguere 9:23 into the third period to give the
Devils a 3-2 lead. Madden's fourth goal of the season was assisted by
Brian Gionta and Jay Pandolfo.
Sergei Federov scored his second goal of the game to even the
score, 3-3.
Regulation time ended with the game tied, 3-3. Sergei
Brylin put the puck into the Ducks net in the overtime, but the goal was
disallowed because he kicked it in. The game ended in a tie.
The game was Scott Stevens' 1,616th regular-season game, which
makes him the new NHL leader all-time for games played by a defenseman.
