October 16, 2003 Game 3: Banner Raised: Devils & Leafs Tie 2-2
The New Jersey Devils raised their 2003 Stanley Cup Championship
banner in front of a sellout crowd before their 2003-2004 season home opener
on Thursday, October 16, 2003. The game against the Toronto Maple Leafs
nearly ended with a Toronto victory, but Sergei Brylin's heroics with 2 seconds
left in the third period, forced overtime.
Here are a few of my pictures
from the game.
Jay Pandolfo got the Devils on the board with his first goal of
the season, just 4:48 into the first period. Brian Rafalski recorded the
only assist on the goal.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Maple Leafs,
1-0. The Devils outshot the Leafs 15-3 in the period.
Nik Antropov tied the game by beating Brodeur at 10:40 of the
second period. 6:06 later, Darcy Tucker gave the Leafs their first lead
of the game.
