June 07, 2003 Round 4 Game 6: Ducks Beat Devils: 5-2 Force Game 7
The New Jersey Devils were defeated, 5-2, in Anaheim by the
Mighty Ducks on Satursday, June 7, 2003. The Ducks win, forced a game 7
to be played on Monday.
Steve Rucchin slapped the puck towards the Devils net at 4:26 of
the first period. The shot deflected off of Scott Stevens' skate and
past Brodeur to give the Ducks an early 1-0 lead.
Rucchin scored again at 13:42 to give the Ducks a 2-0 lead.
Steve Thomas made it a commanding, 3-0 lead at 15:59 on the
power-play.
The first period ended with the Ducks leading the Devils, 3-0.
The shots were even, 9-9 in the period.
Jay Pandolfo took a great pass from John Madden and put it past
Giguere 2:18 into the second period to cut the Ducks lead to 3-1. Brian
Gionta also assisted on Pandolfo's sixth goal of the playoffs.
Paul Kariya blasted the puck past Brodeur at 17:15 of the second
period, giving the Ducks a 4-1 lead.
The second period ended with the Ducks leading the Devils, 4-1.
The shots were even, 10-10 in the period.
Ex-Devil, Petr Sykora beat Brodeur at 3:57 of the third period,
to give the Ducks a 5-1 lead.
Grant Marshall recorded his 6th goal of the playoffs at 10:46 of
the third period to cut the Ducks lead to 5-2. Brian Rafalski and Patrik
Elias assisted on the goal.
The game ended with the Ducks defeating the Devils 5-2.
