March 30, 2003 Game 78: Devils Romp Islanders, 6-0! Record Game!
The New Jersey Devils destroyed the Islanders, 6-0 in East
Rutherford on Sunday, March 30, 2003. Patrik Elias netted 4 goals, Scott
Gomez had 5 assists, and Martin Brodeur became the first goaltender to record
4 40-win seasons - with his 64th career (9th of the season) shutout.
Here are a few of my pictures
from the game.
Scott Stevens gave the Devils an early 1-0 lead, with a shot that
beat Rick DiPietro just 5:04 into the first period. Scott Gomez and
Patrik Elias assisted on Stevens' 4th goal of the season.
Patrik Elias recorded his 24th goal of the season at 11:51 of the
first period, on the power-play. Scott Niedermayer and Scott Gomez
assisted on the goal.
The first period ended with the Devils leading the Islanders,
2-0. The Devils outshot the Islanders, 12-6 in the period.
Patrik Elias beat DiPietro again at the 14:22 mark of the second
period to give the Devils a 3-0 lead. Scott Gomez and Scott Niedermayer
assisted on Elias's 25th goal of the season.
