Devils Defeat Flyers, 5-1
    The New Jersey Devils defeated the Flyers 5-1, in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 21, 2002.   The Devils trailed early on, but fought back, scoring 5 unanswered goals to win the game.
    Marty Murray gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal, 16:43 into the first period.
    The first period ended with the Flyers leading 1-0 on the scoreboard and outshooting the Devils 10-9.
    Jeff Friesen scored on the power-play just 1:02 into the second period to tie the game, 1-1.   Scott Gomez and Scott Stevens got assists on Friesen's first goal of the pre-season.
    Brian Gionta gave the Devils a 2-1 lead at 4:23 of the second period.   Andrei Zyuzin and Jeff Friesen got assists on Gionta's second goal of the pre-season.
    Gionta scored on the power-play just 2:43 later, to increase the Devils lead to 3-1.   Brian Rafalski and Jeff Friesen assisted on Gionta's second goal of the night.
    Jay Pandolfo gave the Devils their fourth goal in a span of 9:17 to give the Devils a 4-1 lead.   Stephen Guolla and Andreas Salomonsson assisted on Pandolfo's first goal (scored at 10:19) of the pre-season.
    The second period ended with the Devils leading the Flyers, 4-1.   The Devils outshot the Flyers 10-5 in the period.
    Mike Danton increase the Devils lead to 5-1 at 8:21 of the third period by beating Robert Esche with a shot.   Danton's goal was assisted by Jim McKenzie.
    The third period ended with the Devils winning the game, 5-1.   The Flyers outshot the Devils 26-23 in the game.
    Friesen had an impressive 3 point night, with 1 goal and 2 assists.
    Martin Brodeur allowed only one goal through two periods, stopping 14 of the Flyers 15 shots.   Ari Ahonen began in net at the start of the third period.   He stopped all 11 shots he faced.
    Roman Cechmanek started in goal for the Flyers.   He stopped all of the Devils shots in the first period, but allowed four goals in span of less than 10 minutes in the second period.
    The announced attendance for the game was 17,910.
