March 08, 2002 Ducks Defeat Devils 2-1
The New Jersey Devils lost to the Mighty Ducks 2-1 in
Anaheim on Friday, March 8, 2002.
Jeff Friesen got the Ducks on the board at 16:40 of the
first period to give the Mighty Ducks a 1-0 lead.
The first period ended with the Ducks leading the Devils
by a score of 1-0. The Devils outshot the Ducks 19-5 in the
period.
Scott Niedermayer tied the game on the power-play with
a nice top-shelf shot at 12:15 of the second period. Niedermayer's
9th goal of the season was assisted by Bobby Holik and Scott Gomez.
The second period ended with game tied, 1-1. The
Devils outshot the Mighty Ducks, 13-10 in the period.
Paul Kariya scored for the Ducks on the power-play just
2:17 into the third period, giving the Ducks a 2-1 lead.
The game ended with the Devils losing to the Mighty Ducks
by a score of 2-1.
