The New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers played a
3-3 tie in Philadelphia on Tuesday, November 20, 2001.
The Devils outplayed the Flyers for the first twelve
minutes of the game - it finally paid off at 11:49. Bobby
Holik beat Flyer goaltender Roman Cechmanek at 11:49 of the first
period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Randy McKay got the
only assist on Holik's 7th goal of the season.
Poor defensive play in the Devils zone on the next
shift led to Williams scoring for the Flyers just 34 seconds after

period. Scott Niedermayer tried to stop the shot, and not stop
the pass. John LeClair took the pass from Williams and put the
puck past Brodeur at 7:12 of the second period to give the Flyers a
Patrik Elias banked the puck off of the back of Roman
Cechmanek's skate and into the net at 15:51 to cut the Flyers lead to
3-2. Petr Sykora and Brian Rafalski got assists on Elias's
13th goal of the season.
The second period ended with the Flyers leading the
Devils by a score of 3-2. The Devils outshot the Flyers 9-6
in the period.
Bobby Holik scored for the Devils at 16:38 to tie the
game at 3 goals a side. Scott Niedermayer got the only assist
on the goal.
Regulation time ended with the game tied, 3-3.
The Devils outshot the Flyers 19-3 in the period.
There was no scoring in the 5 minute overtime period,
but the Devils had several execllent scoring opportunities.
