Devils Defeat Thrashers, 3-2
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Atlanta Thrashers at home on Wednesday, November 7, 2001, by a score of 3-2.
Kallio broke out for the Thrashers at 2:24 of the first period, to give them a 1-0 lead.   At 4:46, Kallio got his second goal of the game (and of the season), giving the Thrashers a 2-0 lead.
Sergei Brylin got his second goal of the season at 12:29 to cut the Thrashers lead in half.   Bobby Holik and Andreas Salomonsson got assists on the goal.
The first period ended with the Thrasher leading 2-1.   The Thrashers also outshot the Devils 10-2 in the period.
The Devils began the second period on the power-play, because ex-Devil, Bob Corkum, was penalized at 19:59 of the first.
Bobby Holik took advantage of the power-play by scoring at 0:47.   Brian Rafalski and Martin Brodeur got assists on the goal that tied the game, 2-2.
Bobby Holik's goal was the 5,000th goal of the Devils' Franchise.
The second period ended with the game tied, 2-2.   The Devils outshot the Thrashers 9-7 in the period.
Bobby Holik fired a rocket passed Damian Rhodes which appeared to have simply hit the crossbar and deflect out.   Upon television reply review, the shot was a goal that was unfortunately missed by all of the officials (including the off-ice video goal judges who could have called down announcing the goal), and would not count.
Shortly after the "non-goal", Bobby Holik put the puck passed Rhodes for a goal that would count, at 18:16.   Andreas Salomonsson got the only assist on the goal.
The Devils won the game 3-2, but were outshot 25-21 in the game.
Mike Commodore and Randy McKay were healthy scratches for the Devils.
