April 22, 2001 Devils Throw Canes a Beating 5-1
The New Jersey Devils showed the remaining playoff
teams that they were simply toying with the Carolina Hurricanes,
when they demolished them 5-1 Sunday, April 22, 2001, Game 6 of
the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals. The Devils
re-affirmed their status as a force not to be stopped on the road
to a successful defense of the Stanley Cup, by eliminating the
Hurricanes with intensity.
Patrick Elias and Sergei Brylin scored in the first
period. Randy McKay scored 1 goal in the second and 1 in
the third.. Alexander Mogilny capped the scoring with 1 goal in
the third.
