March 09, 2013 Game 25: Hurricanes Blow Out Devils 6-3
The New Jersey Devils lost 3-6 to the Hurricanes in Raleigh,
North Carolina on Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Alexander Semin scored a power-play goal that beat Johan Hedberg
at 12:16 of the first period. Jay Harrison scored just 28 seconds later
to give Carolina a 2 goal lead.
Ilya Kovalchuk beat Dan Ellis short-handed at 14:40 to cut the
Canes lead to one goal. Kovalchuk's eighth goal of the season was scored
unassisted.
Jiri Tlusty scored at 4:42 of the second period; Chris Terry
scored at 11:09; and Jeff Skinner scored at 17:15 to make it 5-1
Hurricanes.
Jeff Frazee made his NHL debut, starting the third period in
net for New Jersey.
Ilya Kovalchuk scored just 22 seconds into the third period to
cut the Carolina lead to three goals. Mark Fayne and Andy Greene
assisted on Kovalchuk's second goal of the game.
Patrik Elias deflected the puck past Ellis at 4:21 to make it a
two goal game. Elias' eighth goal of the season was assisted by Marek
Zidlicky and Anton Volchenkov.
Tlusty added an empty net goal at 18:46 to make it a 6-3 victory
for Carolina.
