March 07, 2013 Game 24: Devils Beat Sabres 3-2 in Shootout
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-2 shootout victory over the
Buffalo Sabres at the Prudential Center on Thursday, March 7, 2013.
Thomas Vanek put the puck past Johan Hedberg at 7:56 of the
second period on a power-play to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead.
Brian Flynn made it 2-0 Buffalo with a goal at 9:56 of the
third period.
Adam Henrique got the Devils on the board with a power-play goal
that beat Jhonas Enroth at 13:30. Ilya Kovalchuk was credited with the
only assist on Henrique's seventh goal of the season.
Patrik Elias tied the game with just 1:06 remaining in regulation
time to force overtime. Elias' seventh goal of the season was assisted
by David Clarkson and Andy Greene.
Neither team scored in overtime, sending the game to a shootout.
Johan Hedberg stopped both shots he faced, while David Clarkson and
Patrik Elias scored for New Jersey to win it.
