Game 6: Islanders Drop Devils 5-4 in Overtime

    The New Jersey Devils lost 4-5 at home to the New York Islanders on Thursday, January 31, 2013.

    John Tavares got the Islanders on the board first with a goal that beat Martin Brodeur at 14:31 of the first period on a power-play.

    Keith Aucoin made it 2-0 with another power-play goal for the Islanders at 2:41 of the second period.

    Steve Bernier got the Devils on the scoreboard with his first goal of the season.   The goal that beat Evgeni Nabokov at 3:13 was assisted by Stephen Gionta and Ryan Carter.

    Ryan Carter tied the game with a goal at 6:21 of the second period.   Matt Anderson and Stephen Gionta assisted on Carter's first goal of the season.

    John Tavares scored his second goal of the game just 1:10 later to regain the lead for the Islanders.

    Henrik Tallinder evened the teams at 3 goals apiece at 17:12.   Travis Zajac was credited with the only assist on Tallinder's first goal of the season.

    Mark Streit put the Islanders ahead again with a goal at 11:32 of the third period.

    Adam Henrique tied the game with a goal at 13:50 to send the game to overtime.   David Clarkson and Dainius Zubrus assisted on Henrique's first goal of the season.

    Brad Boyes scored a 4 on 3 power-play goal at 2:01 of overtime to win the game for New York.
