Game 4: Devils Fall to Canadiens 3-4 in Overtime

    The New Jersey Devils lost their first game of the lockout-shortened 2012-2013 season 3-4 in overtime to the Canadiens in Montreal on on Sunday, January 27, 2013.

    Ryan White beat Martin Brodeur just 2:25 into the first period to give Montreal a 1-0 lead.   Brendan Gallagher scored at 13:35 to make it a two goal lead.

    Patrik Elias got the Devils on the board with a goal that beat Carey Price at 3:26 of the second period.   Mark Fayne and David Clarkson assisted on Elias' second goal of the season.

    Brandon Prust scored at the 2:00 mark of the third period to give Montreal a 3-1 lead.

    David Clarkson scored a 5 on 3 power-play goal at 5:23 to get the Devils back within a goal.   Patrik Elias was credited with the only assist on Clarkson's third goal of the season.

    Dainius Zubrus tied the game with his first goal of the season at 13:02 of the third period.   Patrik Elias and David Clarkson assisted on the goal, which would force overtime.

    Andrei Markov scored a 4 on 3 power-play overtime goal with just 38 seconds remaining in overtime to win the game for Montreal.

    Elias' assist on Zubrus' goal was the 900th of his NHL career.
