The New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-2 victory over the Rangers in
New York to even the Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Finals series 1-1 on
Wednesday, May 16, 2012.
Ilya Kovalchuk put the puck over the queen into her net at 13:39
of the first period on a power-play to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Marek
Zidlicky and Zach Parise were credited with assists on Kovalchuk's sixth goal
of the post-season.
The Rangers got power-play goals at 2:23 and 12:19 of the second
period from Marc Staal and Chris Kreider to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead.
Ryan Carter tied the match with the first even strength goal of
the game at 18:09. Bryce Salvador and Steve Bernier assisted on Carter's
second goal of the playoffs.
David Clarkson made a glorious deflection 2:31 into the third
period to score the game winning goal! Adam Henrique and Bryce Salvador
assisted on Clarkson's third goal of the playoffs.
