May 08, 2012R2 Game 5: Devils ADVANCE, BEAT Flyers 3-1
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Flyers 3-1 in Philadelphia on
on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. The victory completes a 4-1 series win to
advance to Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Finals.
The Flyers got on the board first when Maxime Talbot beat Martin
Brodeur at 7:18 of the first period.
Bryce Salvador tied the game, beating Ilya Bryzgalov just 2:09
after Talbot's goal. Salvador's second goal of the playoffs was
assisted by Adam Henrique and Ilya Kovalchuk.
Ilya Bryzgalov gave the Devils a 2-1 lead when he mis-played the
puck into David Clarkson and into the Flyers net. Clarkson's second goal
of the post-season was assisted only by Bryzgalov (unofficially).
Ilya Kovalchuk added a power-play goal at the 5:00 minute mark of
the third period to seal the Devils victory. Adam Henrique and Dainius
Zubrus assisted on Kovalchuk's fifth goal of the playoffs.
