The New Jersey Devils took a 3-1 series lead over the
Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday, May 6, 2012 when they skated to a 4-2 victory
at the Prudential Center.
The Flyers took a 2-0 lead with special teams goals less than 2
minutes apart. Scott Hartnell beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play at
11:50 and Claude Giroux scored a short-handed goal at 13:40 of the first
Petr Sykora got the Devils on the board with a power-play goal
that beat Ilya Bryzgalov at 15:14. Marek Zidlicky and Travis Zajac
assisted on Sykora's second goal of the post-season.
Marek Zidlicky tied the game with his first goal of the playoffs
at 18:09. Bryce Salvador and Ilya Kovalchuk assisted on the
Dainius Zubrus scored at 17:47 of the second period to give the
Devils their first lead in the game. Adam Henrique and Petr Sykora
assisted on Zubrus' second goal of the post-season.
Zubrus added an empty net goal at 19:15 of the third period to
seal the Devils victory. Mark Fayne and MARTIN BRODEUR assisted on
the goal on Brodeur's 40th birthday.
