April 29, 2012 R2 Game 1: Flyers Beat Devils 4-3 in Overtime
The New Jersey Devils lost their Stanley Cup Semi-Finals matchup
against the Flyers 3-4 in overtime in Philadelphia on Sunday, April 29,
2012.
Zach Parise gave the Devils an early lead with a goal that beat
Ilya Bryzgalov just 3:16 into the first period. Patrik Elias was
credited with the only assist on Parise's third goal of the playoffs.
The Flyers took advantage of Devils' missteps and scored twice in
37 seconds - Danny Briere at 8:07 and James Van Riemsdyk at 8:44 of the second
period.
Travis Zajac tied the game with a power-play goal at 13:53.
Zajac's fourth goal of the post-season was assisted by Zach Parise and
Ilya Kovalchuk.
Claude Giroux scored a power-play goal 4:19 into the third period
to give the Flyers a 3-2 lead.
Petr Sykora tied the game, 3-3 with a goal at 11:22. David
Clarkson was credited with the only assist on Sykora's first goal of the
post-season.
Danny Briere scored the overtime winner at 4:36 to win the game
for Philadelphia.
