April 26, 2012 R1 Game 7: Devils ADVANCE, Beat Panthers 3-2 in Double OT
The New Jersey Devils defeated the Panthers 3-2 in double
overtime in Florida on Thursday, April 26, 2012. The victory eliminates
Florida and advances the Devils to the Stanley Cup Eastern Conference
Semi-Finals where they will face the Philadelphia Flyers.
Adam Henrique beat Jose Theodore just 1:29 into the first period
to give New Jersey the early lead. Henrique's first goal of the playoffs
was assisted by Anton Volchenkov and David Clarkson.
Stephen Gionta made it 2-0 New Jersey with a goal at 9:15 of the
second period. Pater Harrold and Ryan Carter assisted on Gionta's
second goal of the post-season.
Stephen Weiss beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play at 5:02 of the
third period to get Florida on the board. Marcel Goc tied the game with
a power-play goal at 16:32.
Regulation time and the first 20 minute overtime period ended
with the teams still tied, 2-2.
Adam Henrique won the series for New Jersey with his second goal
of the game at 3:47 of the second overtime. Alexei Ponikarovsky and
David Clarkson assisted on the game winning goal.
