The New Jersey Devils took a 1-0 series lead in their Stanley Cup
Playoffs Quarterfinals matchup over the Panthers with a 3-2 victory in Florida
on Friday, April 13, 2012. The win was Martin Brodeur's 100th career NHL
Patrik Elias got the Devils on the board first with a goal that
beat Jose Theodore at 6:31 of the first period. Elias' first goal of the
playoffs was assisted by Dainius Zubrus.
Dainius Zubrus added a power-play goal at 14:11 to make it 2-0
New Jersey. David Clarkson and Martin Brodeur assisted on Zubrus' first
goal of the playoffs.
A goal from Ryan Carter just 45 seconds after Zubrus' goal made
it a commanding three goal lead for the Devils. Carter's first goal of
the playoffs was scored unassisted.
Sean Bergenheim beat Martin Brodeur at 7:44 of the second period
to get the Panthers on the board. Kris Versteeg added a power-play goal
at 15:42 to cut the Devils lead to a single goal.
