March 19, 2012 Game 73: Rangers Beat Devils 4-2
The New Jersey Devils lost 2-4 to the Rangers in New York on
Monday, March 19, 2012.
Three seconds into the game saw three simultaneous fights.
Cam Janssen, Mike Rupp, Eric Boulton, Stu Bickel, Ryan Carter, and Brandon
Prust all made the scoresheet early for their 5 minute major penalties for
fighting.
Brandon Dubinsky beat Martin Brodeur at 1:11 of the first period
to give the Rangers an early 1-0 lead.
Dan Girardi scored for New York just 33 seconds into the second
period to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead.
Patrik Elias beat Henrik Lundqvist at 5:03 to get the Devils on
the board. Petr Sykora was credited with the only assist on Elias' 25th
goal of the season.
Mats Zuccarello scored at 7:33 on a power-play to make it 3-1
New York.
Petr Sykora got the Devils back within one goal at 11:08.
Marek Zidlicky and Ilya Kovalchuk assisted on Sykora's 17th goal of the
season.
Derek Stepan scored just as a penalty was expiring to make it
4-2.
