March 06, 2012 Game 66: Devils Smack Rangers 4-1
The New Jersey Devils beat the New York Rangers 4-1 at the
Prudential Center on Tuesday, March 6, 2012.
Ilya Kovalchuk beat Henrik Lundqvist just 49 seconds into the
first period to give the Devils the early lead. Zach Parise and Andy
Greene assisted on Kovalchuk's 26th goal of the season.
Derek Stepan put the puck into Brodeur's net at 6:56 of the
second period to tie the game, 1-1.
At 2:27 of the third period, David Clarkson scored to make it
2-1 New Jersey. Clarkson's 26th goal of the season was assisted by Petr
Sykora and Patrik Elias.
Ryan Carter scored his third goal of the season at 4:21 to make
it a two goal lead. Jacob Josefson and Ilya Kovalchuk assisted on the
goal.
Patrik Elias added an empty net goal at 18:07 to cap the Devils
victory. Dainius Zubrus and Bryce Salvador assisted on Elias' 22nd goal
of the season.
