March 02, 2012 Game 64: ZACHTRICK! Moose & Devils Shutout Caps 5-0
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 5-0 victory in Washington over
the Capitals on Friday, March 2, 2012. The shutout was the 20th of
Johan Hedberg's career.
Zach Parise beat Michal Neuvirth on a power-play at 11:29 of the
first period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Parise's 25th goal of the
season was assisted by David Clarkson and Patrik Elias.
The Devils took a 2-0 lead when Zach Parise scored his second
goal of the game at 17:50. Ilya Kovalchuck and Adam Henrique assisted
on the goal.
Dainius Zubrus made it 3-0 with his 16th goal of the season at
18:19. David Clarkson was credited with the only assist on the
goal.
Parise completed the hat trick just 3:08 into the second period
to give the Devils a 4-0 lead. Adam Henrique and Bryce Salvador assisted
on the goal.
Patrik Elias beat Neuvirth at 15:02, short-handed to increase the
Devils lead to five goals. Dainius Zubrus was credited with the only
assist on Elias' 21st goal of the season.
