Game 54: Devils Fall 3-4 to Blues in Shootout

    The New Jersey Devils lost in a 3-4 shootout to the St. Louis Blues at the Prudential Center on Thursday, February 9, 2012.

    A power-play goal from Zach Parise that beat Jaroslav Halak at 16:46 of the first period, gave the Devils a 1-0 lead.   Ilya Kovalchuk and Kurtis Foster assisted on Parise's 21st goal of the season.

    Christ Stewart tied the game with a goal that beat Johan Hedberg at 18:43.

    David Perron gave the Blues a 2-1 lead with a goal 4:50 into the second period.

    Adam Henrique answered to tie the game just 45 seconds later.   Henrique's 14th goal of the season was assisted by Andy Greene and Alexei Ponikarovsky.

    A goal from Patrik Elias at 9:12 made it 3-2 New Jersey.   Elias' 19th of the season was assisted by Ilya Kovalchuk and Petr Sykora.

    Patrik Berglund beat Hedberg to tie the game at 14:10 of the third period.

    Neither team scored in the shootout, forcing an overtime, which also ended with the teams tied.   T.J. Oshie was the only goal-scorer in the shootout.
