February 01, 2011 Game 50: Devils Beat Senators 2-1
The New Jersey Devils skated to a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa
Senators at The Rock on Tuesday, February 1, 2011.
The Devils (with 9 shots) held the Senators to just 2 shots on
goal in the first period, though neither team scored in the first 20 minutes of
play.
Nick Palmieri scored his fourth goal of the season just 35
seconds into the second period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead. Andy
Greene and Ilya Kovalchuk assisted on the goal.
Alex Kovalev scored a 5 on 3 power-play goal at 5:09 to tie the
game 1-1.
The Devils outshot the Senators 16-4 in the second period, which
ended with the score tied 1-1.
Dainius Zubrus beat Robin Lehner at 14:17 of the third period to
win the game for New Jersey. Zubrus' eighth goal of the season was
assisted by Patrik Elias and Brian Rolston.
