November 10, 2010 Game 16: Devils Can't Hold Leads, Lose 4-5 in Shootout
The New Jersey Devils lost 4-5 in a shootout at home to the
Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday, November 10, 2010.
Jason Arnott gave the home crowd a goal to cheer for when he beat
third-string goaltender Jhonas Enroth at 10:12 of the first period.
Arnott's team-leading fifth goal of the season was assisted by Patrik Elias and
Mattias Tedenby.
The Devils outshot the Sabres 9-8 in the first period, which
ended with the Devils leading 1-0.
Jason Pominville beat Johan Hedberg at 5:22 of the second period
to tie the game. Just 13 seconds later Derek Roy scored to give the
Sabres a 2-1 lead.
David Clarkson tied the game with his second goal of the season
at 7:58. Alexander Vasyunov and Andy Greene assisted on the goal.
nbsp; A power-play goal from Jason Arnott at 12:01 again gave the Devils
the lead. Andy Greene and Patrik Elias assisted on Arnott's second goal
of the game.
Tyler Myers tied the game with a goal at 13:50.
Jamie Langenbrunner's goal at 18:01 once again gave the Devils a
lead in the game. Henrik Tallinder and Travis Zajac assiste on the
Captain's third goal of the season.
The Sabres outshot the Devils 17-13 in the second period, which
ended with New Jersey leading 4-3.
Tyler Ennis tied the game with a goal at 8:54 of the third
period.
Regulation time ended with the teams tied, 4-4. Niether
team scored in overtime, so the game went to a shootout.
