October 23, 2010 Game 8: Sabres Shred Devils 6-1
The New Jersey Devils lost 1-6 at home to the Buffalo Sabres on
Saturday, October 23, 2010.
Drew Stafford beat Johan Hedberg at 6:57 of the first period to
give the Sabres a 1-0 lead. Tyler Myers made it 2-0 with a goal at
16:33.
The Devils outshot the Sabres 9-8 in the first period, which
ended with the Sabres leading 2-0.
Tyler Ennis scored 3:17 into the second period and Patrick Kaleta
made it 4-0 Sabres with a goal that beat Hedberg at 8:17. Martin Brodeur
was brought off the bench after the Sabres fourth unanswered goal.
Thomas Vanek beat Martin Brodeur on a power-play at 18:12 to
increase Buffalo's lead to five goals.
The Sabres outshot the Devils 14-4 in the second period.
Zach Parise gave Devils fans something to cheer for when he beat
Ryan Miller at 11:25 of the third period. Dainius Zubrus and Andy Greene
assisted on Parise's third goal of the season.
Just 25 seconds later, Vanek capitalized on a turnover by Matt
Corrente, making it 6-1 Buffalo.
