October 11, 2010 Game 3: Devils Lose 1-3 to Penguins
The New Jersey Devils are now winless in 3 games after a 1-3 loss
at home to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday, October 11, 2010. The
Devils lineup was short 3 skaters, but no one accepts that or the lopsided
officiating as an excuse.
Alex Goligoski beat Martin Brodeur with 1:04 remaining in the
first period to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead. The Penguins outshot the
Devils 15-8 in the first.
A power-play goal from Mark Letestu 2:32 into the second period
gave Pittsburgh a 2-0 lead.
The shots were even in the second period, 8-8, which ended with
the Penguins leading 2-0.
Patrik Elias got the Devils on the board with a goal at 8:20 of
the third period. Elias' first goal of the season was assisted by Jason
Arnott.
Paul Martin, who was welcomed back to Newark with (bronx) cheers
every time he touched the puck all game, pounded the nail in the Devils' coffin
with an empty net goal at 19:49.
