R1 G1: Flyers Beat Devils 2-1

The New Jersey Devils lost 1-2 to the Philadelphia Flyers at the Prudential Center on Wednesday, April 14, 2010.   The win gives the Flyers a 1-0 lead in the first round best-of-seven series.

Neither team scored in the first period, in which the Devils outshot the Flyers 9-4.

Chris Pronger scored on a power-play - beating Martin Brodeur at 9:25 of the second period to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead.   Mike Richards made it 2-0 with a goal at 16:27.

The Flyers outshot the Devils 8-6 in the second period, which ended with Philadelphia leading 2-0.

Travis Zajac finally got New Jersey on the board with a goal that beat Brian Boucher at 17:17 of the third period.   Andy Greene and Zach Parise assisted on the goal.

The Flyers only had two shots on goal in the third period - they were content to protect their lead.   New Jersey did not take advantage of the "extra" power-play time they had (6 minutes to the Flyers 4 in the third period).
